"Before Aurangzeb, the number of mansabs in Akbar’s time was 1800.
But Aurangzeb made this network more complex and intricate, and the number of mansabs increased to 14500, which was a huge increase.
Also the rule was changed somewhat, where after the death or retirement or resign of post of a mansab, the jagir under him would be confiscated by the mughal emperor while paying all dues and salaries to the mansab or his heir.
This system was called zabti.
