Marcel Marceau was a famous mime artist from France. He charmed the audience throughout the world. He would present tragic and comic sketches through his silent art which had a universal appeal. He did not utter a single word, the audience would interpret his performance in their own way. He travelled extensively and people all around the world enjoyed his performances as he used his art to depict the tears and laughter which are common for all humanity. Marcel Marceau is known world over for having entertained the masses with his mimes. Music has no boundary or nationality and is liked by everyone. Similarly, gestures can be used to communicate with anyone. They express what the soul aspires to achieve most. According to Marceau, a mime is the art of silence and needs no language for communication.

For example, if you want to show the gesture of the wind, you represent yourself as a tempest. Similarly, to show the sign of a fish, you represent yourself inside the sea. These gestures are the same worldwide and irrespective of one’s nationality, there will be no difficulty in interpreting them.
