After executing the plan successfully and extracting the truth out of Ranga, the narrator went to Shastri in the evening. The narrator praised Shastri for playing his part in the plan so well. He also made fun of astrology by saying, “What a marvelous shastra yours is!”

Shastri did not like this sarcasm and replied, defending the shastras that the shastras would also have revealed the same thing if he had taken their help. He also reminded the narrator that he had developed the entire plan by himself on just hints given by him. He asked the narrator to behave like a decent man.

Narrator made this comment because Ranga believed that it was Shastri's Sastra that predicted everything what was happening in his life. But the narrator knew the truth aboutthe predictions. Shastri repeated everything he was taught by the narrator without giving rise to any suspicion. It was sarcastic comment on the use of Shastra by Shastri.
