What did poet learn about the existence of heaven and hell?

As the speaker grew to be mature,he acquired reasoning power. He realised that heaven and hell could not be found in geography books. Since, they could not be located anywhere in the world map he concluded that they didn't exist. He would believe only if he could see and find.
