In Edward Lear's poem "The Duck and The Kangaroo", he has narrated the story of how one day, a duck asked a kangaroo to let him hop on his back and go across the country to enjoy. Now, the Duck is aspired to enjoy life and go beyond his limits. The Duck is aware of the fact that in order to gain a favor, he is supposed to say yes to all the objections and conditions set by the Kangaroo. Therefore, when the Kangaroo says that the Duck's feet are wet and cold, the Duck comes up a solution that he has found gloves to cover the wet feet. Kangaroo, though accepts the offer yet he instructs Duck to sit on tail so that he doesn’t lose balance. It shows that Duck is ready to compromise , whereas kangaroo cares way too much about himself that he can refuse to have a jolly company with which he could enjoy wandering around the world.
