The author being talked about was Stephen Spender who had visited Gemini Studios to enlighten people on the subject of communism. People at the Studio did not know much about the purpose of his visit. They had been told that he was a poet and a writer nor did they know enough English to understand his talks. It was after reading his name in the book ‘The God That Failed’ that Asokmitran got a clue about his visit. He came to know that he was also one of those people who had adopted communism and later own renounced it.
