what did the big and old tree say to the wood cutter?
Answers
Answer:
it is the story
Explanation:
Once in a deep dark forest there lived an old humble woodcutter and his family. The woodcutter was very poor and he didn't have enough food to spare for his family, so he had to go off into the woods and cut down some wood to sell to people who build houses. He went out of his old house, closed the wooden door behind him and went into the depths of the woods with his sharp axe.
When he got out into the deep woods, he saw a tree that had been burnt. "This tree is not good for building; I guess I won't be chopping this tree down." He said. He kept walking until he found a perfect tree. It had hard wood and its leaves were so green. The woodcutter muttered to himself, "This tree is perfect! It will be perfect for building.”
He looked and looked at the tree until he felt like leaving it alone and not cutting it.
“Although my family is starving this tree is too good to cut down." He thought.
So instead of cutting it down he sat beside the tree and cried. The woodcutter felt miserable. He was crying his heart out when he heard a sound - a laughing, giggling sound. It seemed like it was from the tree --the one that looked perfect.
He turned around but the noise had stopped. "I must have imagined that laughing sound. Why would someone be laughing at my misery," thought the old woodcutter.
He went back to his sobbing when he heard the sound again. "That's funny," the woodcutter thought, "Trees can't talk."
He then turned around and this time the tree was actually chuckling, "What? A giggling tree! That's impossible!” He wondered. “Hang on, I can be famous and get rich if I tell this to everyone," the woodcutter said.
"Oh no! Don’t reveal my secret. I’m sorry that I was laughing at your misery." The tree apologized.
Then the woodcutter said, "That's OK because you don't know why I'm miserable."
"But why are you so miserable?" asked the tree.
"Well I'm miserable because I have a family and we can’t pay for our food (sniff) and we are all very hungry so I need wood to sell to people who make houses that way I can earn some money," the woodcutter said.
“Well, chop some of my branches and maybe I can help you.”
“But - are you sure?" "Yes!" "Ok."
So the woodcutter chopped off one of the branches and watched it fall on the hard ground. He felt worried but when he looked up at the tree the branch had actually grown back to replace the one that had been chopped down.
“I’m a magical tree. Tell me what can you do with that little branch?” said the tree.
The old woodcutter thought, “Um, I know I could make a little toy out of this branch”
“That’s exactly correct” said the tree. If you make toys out of my branches and sell them to children they will make the children giggle,” said the Giggling Tree.
“Oh thank you Giggling Tree, what can I do to repay you,” said the old woodcutter.
The Giggling tree said, “Well, look around, do you notice something about the forest”
“Yes, all the trees in the forest are getting burnt and some of them have even fallen down.”
“That’s exactly right,” said the Giggling Tree. “What I want you to do is, every time you chop my branches plant a new tree in the forest to replace the ones that have been burnt. That way the forest will grow and there’ll be enough trees for everyone.”
“I’ll do what you want Giggling Tree” said the Woodcutter
“Just one more thing …” said the tree.“What’s that?” asked the woodcutter.
“Don’t tell anyone my secret,” giggled the tree.
