Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment (bodhi) whilemeditating underneath a Ficus religiosa. According to Buddhist texts, the Buddha meditated without movingfrom his seat for seven weeks (49 days) under this tree.

Gautama Buddha was deep in meditation wile he was sitting under the peepal tree at Bodh Gaya. He put himself through many severe physical and emotional challenges to attain enlightenment.
