caste sytem is most confused stuff among non-hindus 
it was ancient form of division of labour on basis of 
skills. eg. 

brahmin- smart brains..teachers/advisors/consutants etc 
shatriya - brave & leadership qualities - rulers/ warriors etc 
vaishya- business class 
shudra - blue collar jobs 

& my dear many ppl confuse buddism/jainsm/sikhism etc as separate religion.......they are different sect of hinduism ...like schools of thoughts 

religion is more of spiritual thing rather than division, in hinduism ......so u can question anything & create new schools of thought 

buddhism : 

has caste sytem watever u call it.... sects - hinyan, bahyan etc...in india they get resevation ( 7.5 % ) on basis of backward caste claims ....lolz
