It indeed turned into the customary thing for the fowler to be locked in till dusk unraveling his net, and after that he returned home flat broke. His wife became irate and stated, "Step by step you return with next to nothing. I guess you have a second foundation to keep up somewhere else."

After returning home empty-handed for a few days, his wife became angry one fine day and told him,“Day by day you return empty-handed; I suppose you’ve got a second establishment to keep up elsewhere.’’
