When she saw Mr Easton in hand cuffs her smile turned to blewerd horror seeing this the glum faced man said that Mr Easton is a marshal and he ( Mr Easton) is taking him to Leavenworth prison in order to save Mr Easton from embarrassment

To protect Mr.Easton from the embarrassment the glum-face man told miss fairchild that he was the criminal and Mr.Easton was the marshal . These words returned the glow on her face return and she became much relaxed as his friend was not some sort of a criminal.
