The story of the 'the frost king' did not originate in Helen killer's mind intact but had taken to itself the mould of a child's temperament and had draw on a vocabulary that to some extent had been supplied in other ways the style of her version was in some respects even is better than the style of miss canby's story it has imaginative credulity of a primitive folktale whereas miss canby's story was evidently told for children by an older person one who adopted the manner of a Fairytale and could not conceal the mature mood which allowed didactic phrase the superior imaginative qualities of helen's opening paragraph was easily discernible the writer must have become a little child to see think like that capturing the beauty of rhythm throughout the children's narrative it was original the same way that a poet version of an old story can be conceived as an original in thought and execution this little story called into the questions all this issue concerning language and philosophy style
