the poem, the solitary reaper by William Wordsworth is a romantic poem. in this poem the poet is deeply impressed by the solitary reaper's melancholy strain. he saw her alone in the valley reaping and singing by herself. the poet could feel that she sang a melancholy strain. he guessed that the song would be for someone who she had lost, or for someone or her family who would have died in the wars and would never come back. he guessed that the strain would be for her lover, whom she had lost and was missing. the song went into the profound valley of the poet. the Poet had never heard such a sweet voice before, her voice was sweeter than any nightingale or cuckoo bird .though he moved away from there the melancholy strain was still carried deep in his heart.
