Answer:
Appointing the commanders, the prophet S.A.W said his noon prayer, he was seated and his sahaba [ companions ] gathered around him. Aban b. "Uthman al- Ahmeri narrated from Imam al-Sadiq (a) said :the prophet appointed Jafar b. Abi Talib as the commander, and in case he is killed , he would be succeeded by Zaid b. Haritha, and then Abd Allah b. Rawaha. The prophet S.A.W said that if Abd Allah b. Rawaha is also hurt , then the Muslims should elect a commander then . Then the prophet S.A.W gave a white flag to the army of 3,000 soldiers.
