Due to bubonic plague in the modern part of Hanoi, the French appointed a large number of Vietnamese workers who were paid for each rat they killed. They had to bring the tails of the rats as proof. But the Vietnamese chopped the tails of the rats and released them again di that the process could be continued.
In short we can say that, the Vietnamese learned to earn profit very cleverly by making use of the rats.
