To ask someone their name, a stranger or someone older than you, ask
"Comment vous appelez-vous?".
while for someone who is of your age ask like this-
comment tu t'appelles?

hey mate!
when we ask to say my name is.... in French we say:-
'Je M' Appele ......." (after that say your name!)
