Solution :-

William Hershel discovered infrared radiation on 11th February 1800 while living in Slough. It was an accidental discovery, as at the time he was trying to devise a way of cutting down the glare of looking at the Sun through a telescope. He noticed that when using different colored filters, some would let through more heat than others. This led him to devise an experiment to measure the heat given out by different colors of light.

He passed sunlight through a prism to create a spectrum, and measured the heat given off at various points of the spectrum using thermometers. He discovered that there was even more heat beyond the red end of the spectrum. Infrared radiation has many uses like in the fields of astronomy, medicine, police work, and weather monitoring etc.

On 11 February, 2018,

William Herschel discovered infrared radiations. One day he was just observing the sun spots by using a red filter when he soon realised that it was producing a lot of heat.

He found infrared radiation in sunlight where he held a thermometer at the end of the visible spectrum formed by the prism and saw shocking changes in the temperature.

His further research concluded that there is must be an invisible light beyound the visible spectrum.
