She always fought to protect the people she loved even when surrounded by the most powerful foe. She remained loyal to Harry even when she didn't have to. AND most of all she had it in her to admit that she chose the wrong side and after the war lead her broken husband and frightened son out of the raging battle and guide them into normalcy. A lot of the characters in Harry Potter displayed many admirable traits like loyalty, love and courage. But Narcissa had lived her entire life believing in the dark side and being a submissive wife and an uninterfering mother. What she was compelled to do towards the finale of the series was completely out of her comfort zone, against her nature and the exact opposite of what she'd been taught and expected to do all her life. And she did this all because she knew that if she didn't her family would crumble and she was unwilling to sit down and accept that.
