Metals are natural substances or combinations of natural substances, like aluminum, gold, tin, or iron.

Metallic means to resemble metal or to be "metal-like".  Something can be metallic without being metal.  For example, if it is shiny, like a metal, it could be called metallic because it resembles a metal in appearance.

Since the term means "metal-like" it can also be used to catalog properties of real metals.  Metallic properties include:

•conductivity

•lustre

•ductility

•density

•malleability
