1] MEXICO DID CONTEST ELECTIONS AFTER EVERY 6 YEARS TO ELECT ITS PRESIDENT

2]but until 2000 every election was won by a party called PRI [INTITUTIONAL REVOLUTIONARY PARTY]

3] OPPOSITION PARTIED DID CONTEST ELECTIONS BUT NEVER MANAGED TO WIN AS PRI USEDMANY CORRUPTED TRICKS

4] ALL THOSE WHO WERE EMPLOYED IN THE GOVERNMENT JOBS HAD TO ATTEND THEIOR PARTY MEETINGS

5] GOVT. TEACHERS FORCED PARENTS TO VOTE IN FAVOUR OF PRI

6] MEDIA IGNORED ACIVITIES OF THE OPPOSITION

7] THE POLLING BOOTHS WERE SHIFTED FROM ONE PLACE TO THE ANOTHER AT LAST MINUTE WHICH MADE DIFFICULT FOR THE PEOPLE TO GIVE VOTES....

8] SO EVERY ELECTION WAS WON BY PRI

HOPE HELPED..

anu522: IT IS TRUE...THERE SHOULD BE APPROVAL OF RULERS FOR TAKING ANY DECISION BUT THIS ONLY IS NOT SUFFICIENT...IT MUST ALSO BE ACCEPTED AND RECOGNISED BY THE CITIZENS....IT SHOULD BE FOR THE BETTERMENT OF PEOPLE .. ALSO IT SHOULD NOT BE AGAINST THE CITIZENS RIGHT OR CONSTITUTIONAL LAWS
anu522: IF THIS WILLNOT BE THERE IT CANNOT BE CALLED A DEMOCRACY...FOR EXAMPLE--- IN PAKISTAN WHEN GENERAL PERVEZ MUSSARAF RULE...HE STARTED TO FORM/ APPROVE NEW LAWS IN FVOUR OF HIM....WHICH RESULTED IN DICTATORSHIP KIND OF GOVERNMENT...AND THIS CANNOT BE CALLED DEMOCRACY

#The PRI was known to use many dirty tricks to win the elections. All those who were employed in government offices had to attend it's party meetings.    Teachers of government schools used to force parents to vote for the PRI.

# Media largely ignored the activities of opposition political parties except to criticise them.

# Sometimes the polling booths were shifted from one place to the other in the last minute which made it difficult for the people to cast their votes. (opposition party)

# The PRI could not be defeated, even if people were against it. They used some or the other unfair practice and won elections, and elections conducted in Mexico cannot be called democratic
