The Narrator and the rest of the children from her caste were used for labour. Children of her caste carried Water to the teacher's house. They watered the plants. They did all the chores that were needed in the school. Yet, if anything was stolen or if somthing terribleily happened, it was taken for granted that the Cheri children must have done it.
