In the process of eye donation, cornea (contributes most of the focusing power of eye) of the eye is donated and not the full eye. Diabetic patients and those suffering from hypertension and asthma can donate eyes. But the ones infected from AIDS, hepatitis B or C, rabies, tetanus meningitis, septicemia, cholera or any communicable disease cannot donate eyes as cornea is infected in such diseases. Such an infected cornea cannot be donated.
