What distinguishes mysteries that are solved from those that go unsolved?

It needs a brilliant mind to solve a mystery and that is the main difference between an solved and unsolved mystery.

Few points that differentiate between an solved and unsolved mysteries are :-

1) All the necessary data are there in

solved cases whereas in unsolved

cases all the data may not be given.

2) Sometimes some minds cannot

comprehend the mysteries and

therefore, there perspective is

different from others.

siiilver: Actually, some mysteries have clues yet they aren’t solved yet. Take the Sodder children for example, there are clues like no bones was left behind and etc., yet their remains are unsolved.
