DEFINITION-
ACIDS - compounds which when dissolve in water produces H+ ions as the only positively charged ions.
BASES - compounds which when dissolve in water produces OH- ions as the only negatively charged ions.
================================
SIMILARITY-
1)ACIDS and BASES both dissolves in water to produces ions and therefore GOOD CONDUCTORS OF ELECTRICITY
2)ACIDS and BASES react with each other to produce salt and water.

in generally you can say that all acid have a specific form and all basic have a specific form .
because , acid means H+ ions lossing property ,
e.g HA is general equation of acid .
e.g
HA → H+ + A-
example :- HCl , HBr , HF etc are acid in the form of HA.
Base :- base which releases OH- ions .
general form of base is BOH
e.g
BOH →B+ + OH-
example :- NaOH , KOH , Mg(OH)2 etc are base in the form of BOH .
some time , any other compound behaves like an acid , or base . this reason out of 10th class syllabus .
because for understanding this reason , Lewis concept , bonstet Lowery concept require , which is out of syllabus .
