Acids:

These are the substances that give H+ ions when dissolved in water. They turn blue litmus red and are sour in taste.

Bases:

They give OH- ions when dissolved in water. They turn red litmus blue and taste bitter

As earlier noted,acids give hydrogen ions when dissolved in water and bases form hydroxide ions when done the same.

The common characteristic they share is to conduct electricity in aqueous state.

It is known that,for conduction of electricity,mobile electrons are required. Here,the hydrogen and hydroxide ions act as the mobile electrons.
