Both acids and bases are electrolytes which means that they're good conductors of electricity. Acids and bases both produce ions in water solution. Acids release hydrogen ions (H+) whereas Bases release hydroxide ions (OH-).

A base is a molecule or ion able to accept a hydrogen ion from an acid. When acid and bases are dissolved in water solution, acid gives( H+) ions whereas base gives (OH– ) hydroxide ions.
e.g., (turn red litmus paper blue), react with acids to form salts, promote certain chemical reactions (base catalysis)
