the contraceptive pills generally contain a artificially synthesised hormone called progesterone or a mixture od estrogen and progesterone..these hormones help in bringing changes in the endometrial lining of the uterus of the female when taken.as a result implantation becomes impossible also the atmosphere becomes unsuitable for the sperms which might have got in during copulation.and hence pregnancy is prevented.
