\underline{\bold{OSMOSIS}}

Osmosis is the net movement of the solvent molecules through a selectively permeable membrane from its region of higher concentration to lower concentration .

In other words , it is the movement from lower concentration of solute to higher concentration to equalize the solute concentration on two sides of the membrane .

Example → absorption of water by roots of plants from the soil.
