What do mean by squamous , columnar ,and quiboidal epithelial
Answers
These are the types of epithelial tissue.
Squamous tissue is one layered with irregular surface which is present in alveoli. Its functions as diffusing membrane.
Cuboidal is present in ducts of blood vessels and in PCT of nephron.Their function is secretion and diffusion membrane formation.
Columnar is also helpful in secretion. It is present as lining for stomach, small intestine etc.
Squamous epithelium consist of cells that are flat that are layered one over the other. This epithelium is permeable and is present in the organs where molecules can move in and out of the membrane quickly e.g. in capillaries and intestines.
Columnar epithelium consists of elongated epithelial cells. It is present in the organs such as stomach, small and large intestines.
Cuboidal epithelium consist of cube shaped cells and is found in organs that are involved in secretion such as salivary gland and diffusion such as in tubuules of kidneys.
