EXPLANATION:

  • The IR in simple microprocessor has simple register with necessary bits for the opcode and the address combined.
  • If the opcode and the address requires 8 bits each, then the IR requires 16 (8+8) bits wide. It has both the clock and reset signals.
  • The current value can be read by using Program Counter (PC) or ‘Memory Address Register’ (MAR).  

This IR has 2 control signals, they are:

         - Command for loading IR

         - Required address for system bus.
