For the elder brother the forest, the river , the bears and the mountains symbolizes the obstacles that he will have to face if he decides to go to the forest.
EXPLANATION:
- This is taken from a short story Two Brothers by Leo Tolstoy in which he is trying to emphasize that some risks are worth taking and we cannot live our life if we do not want to do something new.
- In the story the two brothers found a stone in the forest one day which gave them the directions and the things they had to do if they had to find the ultimate happiness.
- The younger brother sees this as an opportunity to prove himself and to seize his chance of getting the ultimate happiness. But, the elder brother on the other hand does not wanted to go because he was not sure of what lies ahead, he refuses to come out of his comfort zone and does not goes to the forest.
- To him, all this symbolizes the obstacles or excuses that he uses to justify his not going to the forest.
