Phycobiont is member of cycanobacteria ad green algae.

☢Because phycobionts are photoautotrophs, the fungus get its organic carbon directly from algal partner, in turn fungi protects the phycobiont from extreme conditions and also provide water and minerals to algae.

Mycobiont refers to the fungal component that is present in lichen ( symbiotic association of algae anf fungi).

☢It provides shelter and peforms water and mineral absorption for algae, which is its partner.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MYCOBIANT AND PHYCOBIANT:-

The algal component of the lichen is called phycobiont and fungal component is known as mycobiont Phycobiont prepare food for fungi and mycobiont provides shelter and absorb mineral nutrients and water for its partner.

hey mate...

here is your answer...

Phycobiont refers to the algal component of the lichens and mycobiont refers to the fungal component. Both of these are present in symbiotic relationship in which Algae prepare food for Fungi due to presence of chlorophyll whereas the fungus provides shelter to algae and absorbs water and nutrients from the soil.

hope it helps...
