Answer:
An "anthology" is perhaps the most common collective noun for a group of stories, and refers to a published collection of literary passages. Very often, the anthology has a theme which is reflected in its title and in the items selected for inclusion. Usually, an anthology includes writings from a variety of authors. Anthologies are quite often thought of as collections of poetry, especially, and this could be a reflection of the term's Greek roots (anthos + logia) which denoted a gathering or collection of "flowers" of small poems or epigrams from various authors. Anthologies may also be collections of short stories, or personal essays, or articles on a particular topic. They may also be a combination, such as poems and short stories. The editor(s) or publisher of an anthology is called an anthologist.
