The queen's proclamation of 1857
The Queen Victoria by a proclamation announced on 1st November 1857 directly assumed the responsibility of the Indian Administration in her own hands. A number of changes in the government came into being which are as follow:
i)the British government will not be involved in any further territorial expansion.
ii)the British would not involve into any Indian age old customs or traditions
iii)all people will be eligible for government jobs according to their qualifications, not their cast,religion, etc
iv)the doctrine of lapse would be lapsed
v)unless otherwise involved in some criminal offenses all the mutineers of the Revolt of 1857 would be given a general amnesty
