acid rain is the rain that contains high concentration of pollutants chiefly sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide that are released into the air by the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil .

When CO2 and nitrogen they are emitted into the atmosphere, they get dissolved in water vapour and comes down with rain and makes it acidic. This is called acid rain.
