Africans who were born in Africa and were taken as slaves by America in the past started to live there as the residents of the America hence from then, they are called as African Americans. Hope it helps

African-american are those people who were made slaves by the whites and were brought to America . They did a gruesome behaviour with them . But years later due to the revolution and some songs [ They don't really care about us by Michael Jackson ] influenced the Whites to care for them . Today there is 2-3 percent reservation for african-Americans and there are many famous personalities who are African-American who are devoted to their country like Martin Luther King Jr. , Barack Obama , Bruno Mars , Kanye West , Will Smith , Jaden Smith , Sam Cooke , Rihanna

All of these personalities are one of my favourite
