Gestation is the duration of pregnancy or it the period of growth of the foetus from conception to birth. The gestation period of the human foetus is about 38 to 40 weeks or about 280 days.

Is the period of time from date of conception (Fertilization) to date of parturition.

Process of Parturition is termed in different species as :-

In Sheep it is lambing.

In Goat it is kidding.

In Cows and buffalo it is calving.

In Mare (Horse) it is foaling.

In human it is normal delivery.

Different species have different gestation period.

Just to be able to remember:-

In sheep and goats it is around 5 months 5 days

In cows it is around 9 months 9 days

In buffalo it is around 10 months 10 days.

In mare (Horse) it is around 11 months 11 days.

In human beings it is around 9 months 9 days.
