Here's your answer looking for
atom can be classified into the subatomic particles.
There are various subatomic particles but there are only 3 fundamentals sub atomic particles.
These are as follows:-
1) proton
2) neutron
3) electron
As you are asking about the neutron I will discuss only about neutrons
Neutron :- neutrons are the sub atomic particles of atom that has neutral charge.
It is located in the nucleus of atom together with protons.
At quantum level it is composed of proton and electron.
As the proton has one unit of positive charge and electron has one unit of negative charge. That's why they cancel each other and give the neutral charge.
At Quantum level the neutron is made up of 2 down quark and 1 up quark.
Mathematically we can prove that neutron has neutral charge or zero unit of charge.
As the neutrons are made up of two down quark and one up quark.
So,
Down quark has the charge of-1/3
And,
The up quark has the charge of 2/3
So,
Charge of neutron =
2(-1/3)+2/3
= -2/3 +2/3
= 0
That's why the neutron has neutral charge.
Basically these sub atomic particles along with proton make the whole mass of atom.
Hope you are satisfied with my answer

NEUTRON!!
The mass of an atom is mainly concentrated in its nucleus.
The nucleus contains not only proton but also on the type of particles called neutrons this particles were discovered by James Chadwick in 1932 .
He bombarded a thin layer of beryllium with fast moving Alpha particle and observe that electrical neutral particle having a mass slightly greater than that of a protons where emmited.
This particle having very high penetrating power.
This neutral particle where found have a mass of 1.675x10^-27 kg and where named NEUTRONS.
A neutron is a fundamental particle of atom present in the nucleus of an atom except hydrogen and protium.
it is assumed that neutron is a result of joining together of a electron and a Proton
it's half life is 20 minute
hope it helps!!
