The current flowing through an electric circuit depends on the wattage power rating of the associated electrical appliances. When the total power rating of the connected appliances in a circuit reaches some limit, they draw greater current. When the total current drawn by all the devices reaches the wiring's safety cap, it may get overheated.

In any circuit the overheating of electrical wiring due to the flow of huge current through it is called electrical circuit overloading.

Excessive ongoing overload of an electrical circuit can result in electrical fires.
