Compressibility factor which is also denoted by Z gives the dominance of Attractive or Repulsive forces on a gas.

Z=PV/RT

Z=1 for ideal gas.
This shows attractive force equals repulsive force.

For real gases.

Z=1
Shows real gas is as Compressible as ideal gas.

Z<1
This shows Attractive force dominates over repulsive force

Z>1
This shows repulsive force dominates over attractive force.
