Friction is defined as the force that always opposes when a body moves over the surface of another body....

Example:- When a box placed on a rough floor is pushed, you find it difficult and more force is required to move it.....the frictional force between the surface of box and floor opposes the force applied by you....

Hii..

Friction is a contact force that opposes the motion of the body and is responsible for bringing a body at rest from the state of motion.

It always acts parallel to the two planes in contact. It is of the same magnitude as the force which brought the body in motion but the main difference is that it acts jn opposite direction.

Friction is also measured in Newton usually but the coefficient of friction are dimensionless.
