Torque can be defined as the rotative effectiveness of a body when acted upon by  a force. It is the amount of rotative motion or simply rotation brought about in a body about its axis by a force.

It is given as t = f * d

where t is torque, f is force, and d is the distance between  the point of application of force and the fixed point or the pivot of the body.

Its unit is Nm or Newton metre.
