what do u think the poet means by saying 'despite the human race' ?

I believe that this question is asked from the poem Where The Mind Is Without Fear. ` despite the human race basically means that irrespective of the caste, creed, religion, race, colour,etc the poet wants us to love our nation and thus at he also says that he wants all the narrow domestic walls to be removed from within our country and its men.
