sound wave is a wave which travels from a material medium and starts vibrating

it is a pattern of disturbance which is caused by movement of energy traveling through a medium

their are two types of wave

longitudinal wave

transverse wave

longitudinal wave is a wave that oscillates back and forth on it's fixed axis that is the same as the axis along which the wave propagates

transverse wave is a wave which makes an 90degree angle and reaches the material medium
