a) Acid radical : When the hydrogen ion (H+) is removed from an acid, then the resultant ion is known as acid radical.

For example : HCl, which is hydrochloric acid, when H+ ion is taken out from this, then the resultant ion would be Cl-. This Cl- ion is an acid radical.

b) Basic radical : When the hydroxide ion (OH-) is removed from a base, then the resultant ion is known as basic radical.

For example : When OH- ion is taken out from KOH, which is Potassium hydroxide, then the resultant ion would be K+. This K+ ion is a basic radical.
