Kabir (Hindi: कबीर,Urdu: کبیر‎,IAST: Kabīr[1]) was a 15th-century Indian mystic poet, Sufi and saint, whose writings influenced basic indian spirutuality,Global influence and his verses are found in Sikhism's scripture Guru Granth Sahib.[2][3][4] He was born in an untouchable caste and raised by a Muslim family. He was nonetheless strongly self realised and influenced by social conditions of untouchables and the mental condition of upper caste, he was influenced by one of the Hindu bhakti leader Ramananda.[2]

Kabir is known for being critical ofHinduism, Jainism and Islam, stating that the former was misguided by the Vedas, and questioning their meaningless rites of initiation such as the sacred thread and circumcisionrespectively.[2][5] During his lifetime, he was threatened by both Hindus and Muslims for his views.[6]:4[need quotation to verify] When he died, both Hindus and Muslims he had inspired claimed him as theirs.[3](There was dispute whether to cremate or buryhis corpse, but his body ultimately vanished).

Kabir suggested that True God is with the person who is on the path of righteousness, considered all creatures on earth as his own self, and who is passively detached from the affairs of the world.[3]

Kabir's legacy survives and continues through the Kabir panth ("Path of Kabir"), a religious community that recognises him as its founder and is one of the Sant Mat sects. Its members are known as Kabir panthis.[7] As Meghwal Kabirpanthi People
