In Sanskrit, The game Snake and Ladder called as "मोक्षपाथ" or "मोक्षपटामु" that means Path of Salvation. In Sanskrit,  Moksha means Salvation and Path/Patamu means Path.

There is one more name for the game and that is "परम पडा सोपान पटाम"
