Use less water, for every use, every day.

Take every possible step to return water to the aquifer.

Bank groundwater that falls through groundwater recharge projects.

Double use ( grey water ) for necessary watering.

Rip out your lawn. Replant with drought tolerant species or cover with crushed gravel.

Replace wasteful sprinklers with drip lines or with nothing.

Do not buy a house with a swimming pool.

Install water-saving fixtures in your house.

Water only when needed and adjust seasonally.

damanyadav06: Construct small tanks in the fields, which helps in percolation and increase the ground water level and also helps the live stock for drinking water.

In my opinion rain water harvesting is the best way to reduce our dependency on underground water. So there should be an encourage program by the government in which people should be taught about this and the government should provide equipment in a subsidized rate.
