Explanation:
My biggest workplace accomplishment was quite a surprise to me.
In March 1984, my best friend at work received a column chart titled, “Performance Rating Matrix.”
The chart was an attachment from the Social Security Administration that included a numerical list of the 10 different regions located throughout the United States. These regional headquarter offices are as follows: Reg 1: Boston, Reg 2: New York, Reg 3: Philadelphia, Reg 4: Atlanta, Reg 5: Chicago, Reg 6: Dallas, Reg 7: Kansas City, Reg 8: Denver, Reg 9: San Francisco, and Reg 10: Seattle.
On the chart each vertical column of the regional offices were graded with either an A, B, C, D, or F based on the arranged horizontal rows of the following criteria:
a. Timely Receipt of Fiscal Documents on a Recurring Basis (e.g., Statement of Transactions, SF-224: Schedule of Payments, SF-1166, Schedule of Collections, HHS-81; Schedule of Cancelled Checks, SF-1098)
b. Timely Receipt of Worksheets Accompanying SF-224 that Contains Cash Activity (G.L. Acct. 101.2)
c. Timely Receipt of Worksheets Accompanying SF-224 that Contains Travel Advance Activity (G.L. Acct. 116.0)
d. Prompt Reconciliation of Adjustments to Schedules
e. Cooperation Received on Cash Reconciliation
f. Cooperation Received on Travel Advance Reconciliation
g. Cooperation Received on Request for Omitted Schedules, Vouchers or other documents
Although my friend worked for DoEd and I worked for HHS she made a copy of the chart especially for me and she gave it to me. She said she thought I should know because it was a chart that graded the work performance I did at Region 9, the San Francisco office.
I was surprised to see that I succeeded in achieving best overall performance among the 10 Regions in the SSA Regional Accounting Activity performance rating by being the only region to earn a successful perfect score with each column filled with an “A” grade. I was delighted with happiness on that day that I discovered it was my biggest workplace accomplishment.
