Rapid combustion occurs with the help of external heat to produce heat and light. EX - lighting a matchstick

Spontaneous combustion occurs without the help of external heat with the evolution of heat and sound. EX - white phosphorus burns at 35 degrees Celsius.

spontaneous combustion is observed in burning of matchstick. when the match stick is struck again the rubbing surface the red phosphorus converts into White Phosphorus which immediately react with potassium cholrate in matchstick head to produce enough heat to Ignite antimony sulphide and start the combustion.
rapid combustion is observed in gas stoves. when we turn the knob of the gas stove in the kitchen and brining a burning macth stick near to it. the gas burns Rapidly and produces heat and light .
